Several members of Homeworld 3 studio Blackbird Interactive recently took part in a roundtable discussion hosted by PC Gamer’s Evan Lahti, with AI as the main topic. While all of them saw the value of algorithmic tools in creating videogames, the consensus was that things aren’t 100% ready for prime time yet.
“There is no AI-driven software that I know of that we would put in a shipped game that would come from Blackbird,” said Rory Mcguire, the studio’s president and CCO, “none of the art that’s being produced on Midjourney. We would use it to block in some ideas or explore some ideas we already have—we’re doing that now. But we wouldn’t put that art into the game. It’s just an inspiration, the same way you would do Google image search.”

Another Vampire- The Masquerade videogame is on the way, and it is still not Bloodlines 2-
There’s still no news on long-awaited RPG Bloodlines 2, but we do have yet another Vampire: The Masquerade game on the way. This time around it’s Justice, a new VR adventure that sends players to the dark streets of Venice in search of the truth behind a dark conspiracy.
Revealed during today’s Meta Quest Gaming Showcase, Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice follows the story of Justice, a member of the Banu Haqim clan, who travels to the home of the death-worshipping Hecata clan to track down and punish the killers of their sire, and discover the mystery behind the theft of an ancient relic.
Players will use a combination of stealth, blood magic, and a hidden crossbow to take down enemies and solve puzzles as they grow in power by upgrading their abilities along separate stealth, combat, and stamina skill trees. Alongside the “gritty main narrative,” there will also be multiple side missions to take on, and unique dialog options in character interactions.

Let’s Build a Zoo will soon let you build an aquarium, too-
Let’s Build a Zoo, the zoo management sim that lets players cross-breed new animal species, has announced its second expansion. Named Aquarium Odyssey, this slippery slice of DLC will let players build and manage their own aquatic enclosures, filling tanks with all manner of weird and wonderful sea life.
The announcement was accompanied by a short new trailer demonstrating the waves of new features the expansion will bring. Naturally, the main attraction is the 50 new species of animal you’ll get to look after, including whales, sharks, starfish, swordfish, and er, regular fish (I can’t be specific because the trailer is only a minute long and the sprites are very small). These budding fruits de mer can be housed in seven new enclosures, while your Aquarium can be dressed up with over a hundred new shops and decorations.

Factorio’s giant Space Age expansion is coming in 2024-
Sound the factory-sirens, folks, Wube Software has announced that expansion Factorio: Space Age is coming in 2024. The expansion will make the immensely popular Factorio roughly double in size, Wube has previously said, and the concept has been in the works since at least 2016.
Factorio: Space Age will continue the engineer’s journey into space, continuing the main campaign of Factorio itself—which ends with launching a rocket. The new expansion will rebalance that to become sending the first of many rockets into space in order to build space platforms for orbital industry and exploration. That will bring players to four new planets, each of which will have “its own unique theme, resource, challenges and gameplay mechanics.”
