US, UK, and EU finally come together to prevent AI monopoly (catastrophic market failure, not the game)-
As we’ve continued developing AI to boldly go where nobody has gone before and where many of us never wanted to go in the first place, we regular folk have had plenty of concerns. Whether it’s the potential for AI job takeovers or deepfake misinformation, there’s plenty to worry about. However, one concern that’s not been discussed so much is the risk of an AI monopoly. Thankfully, the US, UK, and EU are on the ball enough to see this risk and are now coming together to prevent it.
Four governing bodies spanning the US, UK, and EU, have signed a joint statement which, according to the UK government, “affirms commitment to unlock the opportunity, growth and innovation that AI technologies could provide with fair and open competition.”
That’s the positive spin, anyway. But we all know the flipside to competition is monopoly, and it seems that this is precisely what these agencies are hoping to prevent. The four agencies in question—the CMA (UK Competition and M…
Wordle hint and answer #634- Wednesday, March 15-
Need a hint for today’s Wordle? Then you’ve come to the right place. Scroll a little way down the page, and you’ll find a fresh clue to help with the March 15 (634) puzzle, and if you’re still stuck, the answer’s waiting just below that.
Is there anything more cruel than carefully narrowing down the possibilities, entering what you’re sure is going to be the winning guess, and then seeing four, not five, letters turn green? I was in no danger of losing today’s Wordle because of this mis-guess, but it was frustrating to see it take an avoidable extra go.

Upcoming The Last of Us first person mod zooms in on Naughty Dog’s broken world-
It’s one of the first stops for modding a new game, like “Hello World” for programming—no I’m not talking about the nude mods, though good guess, I’m talking about an old fashioned perspective shift. YouTuber Voyagers Revenge recently uploaded a preview of their in-progress first person mod for The Last of Us on PC.
It seems to accomplish the look by zooming in the camera to Joel’s eye level while keeping the same animation work. While this approach often lacks the mechanical finesse of a bespoke first person perspective, I always appreciate the immersive effect it has. Your character holds their weapon like a real person would, and not just superimposed in front of their face like a Doom sprite, and you of course get the joy of looking down and seeing your body in the world instead of just floating six feet off the ground.
Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic environments really hold up zoomed in like this, and as with similar mods for the Witcher, Dark Sou…

“Unbelievably lucky” is how I’d describe my Wordle game today. I kicked off with one yellow and one green—always a decent start—and the very next guess revealed the answer. I have to admit, I enjoyed the quick win, but it felt like the game was over before it had really begun.

WoW Classic is getting official ‘hardcore’ mode servers-
Just two months after they were rumored to be coming, World of Warcraft Classic is getting official Hardcore mode servers to give official support and structure for a player-made way to play. Players on the servers won’t be able to revive after death under any circumstances. They’ve got one life and that’s it.
The fresh new servers coming this summer will implement real support for the fan-made mode. The coming feature was announced via a tweet from the World of Warcraft Twitter account. “The Spirit Healers are Ready,” it said. Ready for what, a vacation? They won’t be around. You can’t revive.
The new servers aren’t that detailed yet, but there’s some information so far. You’ll get one life, obviously, and you won’t be able to resurrect no matter what. You will be able to log in as a ghost after you die, however, in order to turn over guild leadership or message friends. The hardcore servers will be entirely new, not conversions of old servers.
